Exercise

The dreaded exercise word!

But it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom when you’re thinking about starting an exercise routine.

A simple thing like a 15 minute or half an hour walk can be the starting point of your fitness routine.

You don’t have to pound the treadmill at your gym: in fact I’m the fittest I’ve ever been and that is since I left the gym!

If you’re a complete beginner and the idea of a training schedule is a daunting one then how about trying this for just 35 days;

Day 1

  • Stretch for 3 to 5 minutes
  • Walk out your front door in any direction
  • Walk for 15 minutes - anywhere, any distance
  • Turn back and head home!

The first 5 minutes should be an easy walking pace for you and the same for the last 5 minutes. In the middle 20 minutes you can decide to walk at a quicker pace or jog.

Just repeat this for the next 34 days, easy!? The main goal here is general improvement of your fitness and feeling good about yourself. I bet you will also loose a few pounds if you follow this for 35 days…

http://www.weightworld.co.uk/exercise.php- This whole page offers good sensible advice for beginners - take a look

http://www.shapefit.com/workout-routines.html#1- Offers more weight training routines for beginners though, so not completely over the top!

I thought it would also be a good idea to have some sort of medical reasoning behind all this physical activity. So here it is from BUPA’s fact sheet on exercise.
